Asad Jung

Asad Jung was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan. He went to Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. He graduated in the class of 1992, with an honors degree in business, and a minor in mass communication. His creative side took him to UCLA to study film and television.

At 24, he independently wrote and produced a serial for Pakistan TV Network, with a star cast at that time. The subject matter of a young single mother bringing up a deaf child in Pakistan was both educational and heartfelt. The serial achieved international viewership and critical acclaim. It got Asad an award for Best Writing.

After graduating from LMU, Asad had the privilege of being associated with NBC Productions in Burbank. He took his first step in the entertainment industry by interning at the movie and miniseries department. His interest in novel writing was developed by working on the Danielle Steel franchise. He then moved on to learning the art of writing for Daytime TV, with the popular soaps, Days of Our Lives and Santa Barbara. On the comedy side, he worked on the web development of the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

After a major car accident, Asad’s neurological condition became rapidly debilitating, confining him to a wheelchair. Being a fighter, he continued to develop his personal projects. He traveled between America and Pakistan, dividing his time between his entertainment business and the family business. Asad devoted a lot of time to taking care of his ailing mother.

Cosmopolitan is Asad Jung’s first novel, with many more to come. His dream is for the novel to be made into an Academy Award-winning film.
